Spring Bow Ties

4 April, 2012

The men over at Fine and Dandy Shop don’t exactly drip with testosterone. You wouldn’t expect much given that they focus on being dandies. However, they do have some really appealing clothing every once in a while. They’re currently advertising a sale on spring bow ties for this upcoming Easter weekend.

The stripes are more appealing to me than the other patterns, but any one of these is going to look good.

Fashion is the Worst

Seriously. Here’s a rule of thumb, if what you’re wearing is more unique than aesthetically pleasing, you’re doing it wrong.

A Grown up Summer

You can simultaneously embrace the care-free attitude of summer and kill it in the looks department.

Summer is a difficult but rewarding time to be a well dressed man. Difficult in that only certain materials will look good and not bake you. Rewarding in that almost every single man around you will have defaulted to cargo shorts and flip flops so the contrast will be that much better. As summer gets closer, I’ll focus more on what to wear and how to wear it.

A Pen

3 April, 2012

You may or may not be the type of man who needs a daily pen. If you are, I’ve personally found I’m better of purchasing a decent one. That way I’m more inclined to keep track of it, which prevents me from having to constantly replace cheap ones and also helps me always have one on me. These guys are pretty cheap at $10 and are cool enough to hold on to. They’re also very unique in that they’re wooden and made to look like pencils. Keep it in the inner-breast pocket of your jacket or in your briefcase.

Timberland Rain Boots

These things look like trench boots. They’re pretty rugged and masculine. I almost like these more than the LL Bean boots from yesterday.

A quick note on these and other non-dress boots – it’s actually a positive that these look bulky. The thick tread on the soles has a specific name. They’re called lug soles and you want those for outdoor boots. It’s also fine that the shape is thicker too. With something like this, you want to embrace that they’re substantial and not elegant or subtle.
