I’ve been shaving with a safety razor for about two years now. Granted I only have to trim up my neck and cheeks as I wear a beard year round I can get away with shaving once a week, but I still love the closeness of the shave and the price of the blades. I don’t ever plan on going back to a cartridge razor.

I saw this guy today and initially thought it was one of those superfluous luxuries a man doesn’t need.

And then I thought about how convenient it would be to have something like this for when you travel. Last I checked, the TSA still allows safety razors and the blades on carry-ons (more proof that it’s about us feeling safe than actually being safe (or more proof that it’s actually about us getting used to an authoritarian State)). With one of these on, you can still throw your shave gear in your dopp kit without having to worry about it doing any damage.

Rather than dropping $30, I’ll be making my own.
