A Daring Tie

Floral patterns are making a comeback and, for the most part, I’m not a real fan. The whole vibe is a bit too femme and too dandy for me. That doesn’t mean it can’t be embraced within reason though.

I found this tie while perusing my usual blog list today and was pleasantly surprised by how good it looks. It’s a summer tie for sure and shouldn’t be a staple that gets worn too often, but it sure does look good. It’s also relatively cheap at a whopping $40.

The Reason to Buy Quality

It’s simple really. If you invest the money into something that’s made of quality material, it will look better instead of worse as it ages.

I understand that this is not something that can be done with every item you purchase. I’m in the same boat myself. But when you need to upgrade your briefcase, or dress shoes, or sofa it’s always worth considering whether you want to be penny wise or dollar smart.

Father’s Day Gift: Rosewood-stained Shoe Horn

13 June, 2012

If you’re going to drop serious cash on a pair of dress shoes, it pays to take care of them, and part of that proper care comes from putting them on the right way.

The absolute worst thing you can do is leave your shoes tied and then try to wiggle your feet around until they slide in. It breaks down the leather on the back of the shoe and ruins the overall shape. If your dress shoes fit you properly, they may be a bit difficult to get on even when they are untied. Enter the shoe horn to help you out.

Obviously something like this isn’t a huge necessity. It’s a luxury and a good one to have at that. It’s also a product that most men will be hesitant to buy for themselves – thereby making it the perfect gift for Father’s Day. Click on the picture above to go to the Amazon page where you can buy this beauty for $9.

Red Blazer

IF you already have a blue blazer, and your skin tone has kind of a pinkish hue to it, and you have the confidence to really stand out, I recommend picking up a number like this.

It’s warm weather only and it’s not a piece you will want to wear too often because it is so loud. You will also want to make sure that everything else you’re wearing is not going to be a competing color. You could wear white pants with it, but that’s the loudest you’ll want to go. Pair it with grey pants, a chambray linen shirt, and some loafers, and you’ll get some positive head turns.
